Evaluation

Teamwork during Pre-Production:
·      Describe any problems or difficulties your group encountered while developing your plot, concept and characters;
Some difficulties that my group and I encountered while developing our plot was that we planned too much of our movie. We planned a whole episode of a film instead of only 4 minutes of a movie, which meant when we realized what we did, we had to go back and cut lots of scenes out.
·      Explain whether your group effectively used the pre-production and planning templates to help refine each idea prior to filming;
I did the props and costumes list, while Holly and Nikky worked on the shot list and we all worked out the plot and each scene. We all contributed to the pre-production planning and all worked together out figuring out the scenes for our film with equal amount of import.
·      Describe whether your group made effective use of their time in class during pre-production. (Did each group member; contribute; have set tasks at all times; know their role in the group etc.)
I think that our group could have used the pre-production time more effectively and put more work into our planning. I think this because when we got to filming our movie, we were a little un-organized at times. This however, didn’t affect us that much with our film, but could have been better if we were more organized.
·      List some steps your group could (or did) implement to improve in this area;
Some steps we did to improve in our difficulties was to work as a team and discuss all of our thoughts and then decide which one we all agreed sounded the best. We did this when we had to cut our scenes down, deciding which scenes would have been the best to fit the short film. I think we could have planned more before filming our movie. This would of helped out a lot more if we were more organized so we didn’t have to stress about what were doing because we already knew on the day.
Teamwork during Production:
·      Discuss how your group used storyboards, shot-lists, prop-lists and a shooting schedule to assist during the filming and decision making process;
The prop-list came in handy because then we all knew what to bring into class and what props and costumes we needed to bring for that specific day. The prop-list made us more organized as to what to bring and what wasn’t needed on the day of shooting. The shot-list also came in handy while filming our movie because then while filming, we knew what to do and how we wanted to film each cut and scene. The shot list did sometimes however change according to the lighting at the time of filming seeing as though sometimes it was better to have a different angle than the one said on the shot-list sheet.
    ·      Did your group experience any organizational issues during filming, (i.e. members   who were absent or did not contribute; finding suitable times to film; forgetting shot-lists, costumes; not booking equipment etc.) How did you manage or work around these difficulties?
We did have a day where I forgot my costume and therefor, making us film another scene instead which I wasn’t included. Other than that one-day, we were all relatively organized for every lesson and came prepared to film if we knew we had to that day. A lot of the filming days Jazmin was absent, but this fortunately didn’t effect our filming that sever seeing as though she was only in a small scene because we knew she would be away on those filming days.
·      Did your group complete all shots as detailed in your planning?
All the shots, which were in our shot-list, were all completed and added into our film. However, our planning sheet, which contained the plot and scenes, didn’t all get put into the film. This was because a lot of the things put onto the sheet were to difficult or didn’t fit well in what our specific scenes required.
Discuss your individual feelings about the rough edit:
·      Are you group satisfied with the final result?
I am satisfied with the final result of our film. I do however think we could have changed a few more effects and used different contrasts in some scenes and could have done that if we had more time, but other then a few simple things, it’s a relatively good film seeing the time frame we had to plan, film and edit it in.
·      Does the rough edit meet the time requirements for this task? If not, describe why? (i.e did you expect it would be longer? is it incomplete? etc.)
I think near the end of it we ran out of time and could have put a lot more work into the editing of the film. I do believe that the movie can be better if we put more time into it. I did expect the film to be longer when it was altogether but it only came out at around 2:15 - 2:30mins.
·      Does your film require additional scenes, or reshoots?
Our film doesn’t need to have any more additional scenes to it but I don’t think, if we have the time to film it, put another scene in there to make it a little longer and maybe, more understandable.
·      Would like to change any aspects of your film?
I don’t think there are any aspects that I would like to change in my film. I do however, think that we all need to put in a little more effort in the draft to make the final copy better and more clear as to when there is a flashback or when there is a dream.
·      If you could start the project again what would you do differently?
If I could start the project again, I would spend a lot more time in the pre-production, planning the whole film much better so we all have a really good understanding of what we all need to do and how we think the film should be filmed. I would keep in mind the time we have to get the shots filmed and then adding them all together to edit the whole film.
 ·      Did planning and filming take more or less time than you anticipated? Define why?
I think both our planning and our filming took a lot more time than we’d expected. This is because I think, we didn’t realized the time frame we had at the very start and didn’t get straight into our planning when the project was set to us. Next time I’ll be sure to keep in mind the time frame of the whole project and to plan ahead and to make sure that the filming part of the project is planned out very well so we can get straight into filming the quicker which would be a better benefit for us.
Consider whether you undertook adequate and detailed reflection to throughout your project. Have you provided enough evidence to support your work? (Does the work on your blog/journal represent 5 weeks’ worth of work).
I haven’t kept up to date with my evaluations and therefor didn’t provide a lot of evidence to show what had been happening throughout the filming of our movie. Next time I’ll try and keep up to date with all my reflections so Mr. Andrews knows what’s happening every week with how we’re going filming and how we’re going working as a team on this project.
